Blue Peter watch - the final countdown
EXTERMINATE!
No Geth in the studio AGAIN - and some GGs are going into a bit of a decline.......however we did get a film exclusive of a little bit of the finale to the current series of Dr Who - in which Geth plays a dalek................and was pronounced very good at being a dalek!
Some of us are very happy as this is a very cool thing - others wish they were going to be able to see the lovely Mr Jones......well, who knows, he is versatile, maybe he can also play another part?? (pretty please)
We also got confirmation that tomorrow will be the last time for Zoe and Geth in the studio, with Geth's 'best bits' being Wednesday NEXT week (according to the Radio Times anyway).

Who wouldn't like a green man with muscles.....
Nice to see Geth in the e24 studio, and out and about, including in the pub........What I want to know is how the hell did he manage to find the time to film that, what with chasing waves and storms and stuff.....but it was good, and quite frankly he could read the back of a cornflake packet and I'd be listening.
.......and whilst we are on the subject of TV and gossip - I am very very pleased Geth wasn't on the blinking awful Blue Peter Weakest Link special!

Proms in the park
Strictly Come Dancing star Gethin Jones will host the Singleton Park event on September 13, which will feature Pontrhydyfen soprano Rebecca Evans and Tony-winning Broadway tenor Alfie Boe, with the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales. The highlight of the evening will be a live TV link-up with the traditional last night of the proms festivities from the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Gethin said: "The last night of the proms is always fantastic fun and this is going to be a magical night of music in a spectacular setting.
"It's a great big party where everyone comes together and I'm really looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere in Singleton Park."
So, where, I wonder, will some of the GGs be on that night - hmmmm, can't imagine, can you??
Could Geth get much busier?? I don't think so!

Gethin goes to extremes.............
Well, much as we would like him to keep his lovely self all safe and secure, we GGs are very very happy to hear that he has indeed got himself a new show (we had a hint over on The Dark Side - aka Digital Spy) - and he said he's just come back from Oklahoma at Hay.......Twister territory of course!
Blue Peter's Action Man is going to be everyone's Action Man....how totally perfect for him.....shame it won't be on BBC1 though!
'Virgin1 hunts down Fear Junkies
Virgin1, Virgin Media Television's entertainment channel, has commissioned a global adventure series provisionally titled Deadly Weather: Fear Junkies. The 6x60' series, made by Summer Films, will be presented by Gethin Jones (Strictly Come Dancing, Blue Peter).
The show has been commissioned by Virgin1's senior commissioning editor Rebecca Johnson and is being exec produced by Rob Farquhar of Summer Films. The series will explore the world of obsessive enthusiasts who fearlessly and fanatically chase the most perilous, dangerous and extreme natural phenomena in the world, and will feature enthusiasts of volcanoes, lightning, deadly waves and extreme ice and snow.
Filming will take place across the world in countries such as New Zealand and Indonesia.Daniela Neumann, acting director of programmes for Virgin1, said: "Deadly Weather: Fear Junkies is set to become a brand-defining show for Virgin1. It's going to feel epic yet personal, mixed with a huge dose of danger, fearlessness and adventure to give it exactly the kind of mainstream appeal we're looking for from a Virgin1 commission."
Gethin Jones is a fantastic signing for the channel. Taking him out of kids' TV for good, we're really going to see him come of age as he steps way out of his comfort zone in the most extraordinary and extreme of circumstances."

Gethin Jones to host new TV series 11 June 2008
Gethin Jones risks his life for Virgin1 to present, Deadly Weather: Fear Junkies premiering this Autumn on Virgin1. Gethin is set to swap sequins and sticky tape for tornadoes, volcanoes and big waves as he risks life and limb for a brand new series exclusive to Virgin1.
He will step into the unseen world of obsessive enthusiasts, and follow the path of thrill seekers across the world joining them to fearlessly chase the most treacherous and extreme natural phenomena in the world.
Known for his intrepid exploits on Blue Peter and sharp moves on Strictly Come Dancing, Gethin will endeavour to uncover what truly drives these thrill seekers via a series of death defying expeditions across the world. While ordinary members of the public are evacuating, he will be running head first into the danger zone right there alongside them.Filming for Virgin1’s series takes place across the world in locations as far afield as Hawaii, New Zealand, Indonesia, Nebraska and South Africa, and each episode will focus on a different spectacular natural phenomenon comprising rare water spouts, hazardous tornadoes, volcanoes, deadly ice and snow, perilous lightning and dangerous waves.
The series promises to see Gethin get as close as he can to experiencing the dangers of our volatile planet and chasing the violent forces of Mother Nature. Along the way, he will follow a different community of seemingly ordinary people who spend their time obsessively following their hazardous hobbies.
British novice Claire has sold her house to finance her American dream of tornado chasing, while Peter, a telephone engineer from Essex is so obsessed he named his daughter Storm! British oceanographer and Big Wave forecaster Dr Tony Butt moved continents in order to be close to his favourite wave, Menakos in Northern Spain, and Worcestershire born Martin’s biggest obsession is capturing an avalanche on film.
Even former weatherman Michael Fish, famous for wrongly dismissing The Great Storm of 1987, will be thrown into the action in the US as he aims to fulfill a lifelong ambition of lightning chasing despite having no prior experience!
Gethin comments, “I’m thrilled to be part of such an exciting show on Virgin1. I can’t wait to find out what they have in store for me. I’ve heard rumours of 18,000 metre high tornadoes, deadly waves of up to 80ft, death-defying lightning storms, volcanoes and avalanches that exceed speeds of 300 kilometres per hour. I am ridiculously excited, a little bit scared but raring to go – I can’t wait!”
EEEKKKKK!
And this from a man who has said he is not an adrenaline junkie himself! Yeah right, and I'm not a couch potato!!!

A message to you, GGs
I accosted Mr Jones after his narration of Peter and the Wolf at the Hay festival (and very enjoyable that was too) and asked him to send a video message to the other ladies waiting for us in Brum....the lovely man obliged, of course.
Suffice to say it was fab, narration flawless (impression of the duck somewhat suspect) and audience appreciative.
After the performance we had a quick chat as well as getting some photos and the video (diolch, Gethin!). We didn't trample young children, but waited like good girls. Virtue has its rewards.
............and I even had a word or two with Geth's Mum and Dad - lovely people, what else would you expect?
