This Butterfly Rocks

The guestbook at www.strictlygethinjones.co.uk was visited by the 'Butterfly Auction'. This is what they say.....

'Gethin has used his creative talent to show support for Keech Hospice Care’s adult and children’s hospices. He has produced a beautiful, coloured butterfly sketch – a theme which was chosen to represent the beauty of all lives, however short they may be.

Gethin’s painting is part of ‘The Chrysalis Collection’, which will be auctioned off on eBay. The auction will run from 19th to 28th March and there will be a public exhibition of the star-studded artwork throughout the month at the Stockwood Discovery Centre in Luton, nearby the site of the hospices.

All proceeds will help Keech Hospice Care continue supporting adult and children with life-limiting illnesses, and their families.'

Famine....and now it's a feast!

We have recently not seen a lot of Gethin on our TVs.......(!) so this week and weekend have produced something of Springtime into our lives with news of two great new projects for Gethin.

And so the end is near, and I face the final curtain....

Gethin's last night playing Prince Charming in Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud theatre was a 'secret Panto' with the audience and crew playing awful tricks on the cast.......and I was there....

Special visits and dancing from the lovely (Princess) Flavia Cacace (who helped with choreography on the show) and Tom Chambers really zinged up the already fantastic Ballroom scene. We had met his lovely wife, Claire, in the cafe - so the gig was up anyway!

Buttons finally got what he had been asking Geth for all run.....Katherine Jenkins made a flying visit (since Gethin now had Cinders...only fair!)

All in all a hilarious show, and special end to the run!

I have been very remiss in not telling you that Gethin will be on BBC Radio Wales for two hours from 12.05 pm TODAY.

His guests will incude Gabby Logan, Rhod Gilbert, and Joe Calzaghe......gwych!

Mystery unfolded.....Gethin goes to Hollywood!

Gethin is to spend a number of hours on the red carpet at the Golden Globes in L.A. - chasing down and getting gossip out of all those Hollywood celebs for Sky 1. He is very excited, apparently (no high-pitched girly squealing please, Jones!)

Back in the UK, his Strictly oppo, Claudia Winkleman will be holding the fort for Sky Movies. I'm not even joking!

Gethin is on Sky1 with a new show

Sky1 tweeted today that they were doing 'some press with Gethin Jones this morning for an exciting new presenting job he is doing'.

He is excited about this (as are we) - and there seems to have been some 'serious' interest from Heat magazine. What the show is, we have no idea - yet!

Merry Christmas Everybody!

Gethin delighted a HUGE crowd of people in Guildford on Thursday night, including 3 intrepid GGs who hotfooted it over there after work. With obvious delight, he was first to wish the good burghers of the town a Merry Christmas! He saw us, we saw him, he even took a picture of us frantically waving balloons, which fortunately seems not to have worked (phew!).



Rehearsals seem to be progressing on the Panto (oh, yes they are!), with a good rapport being struck with the rest of the cast. Are they discovering that the Prince of Wales is actually a bit of a Prince Charming in real life? I think they might!



The daytime TV game show 'Sell me the Answer', seems to be doing well, though we could have wished for this to be shown at a better time of day!



Mystery surrounds what he has been filming of late, though we do know it involves driving cars, so feel free to speculate. All I know is I am mightily jealous of him having a go in a 'skid car'. This is one of my ambitions!

Gethin, Gethin, Sell Me The Answer, do!

The long (long, long, LONG) awaited Sky1 game show, 'Sell Me The Answer' - in which an unsuspecting contestant takes on the might of 60 ne'er do well 'traders' to help (or hinder) their progress towards £25,000 - starts on weekdays from 9th November at 3.30pm. See some double-dealing and skullduggery going on as these poor saps choose their 'help'.

Our very gorgeous quiz-master is none other than Mr. Gethin (can we keep that bit in, it was FUNNY?) Jones.

Trust me, it's going to be a great show! How do I know - well, for a brief moment, in the immortal words of Max Boyce, I was there! My lips are sealed.....

The GG's meet Kenny Logan

Last weekend we had the pleasure of meeting Mr Logan at his Sparks charity challenge! Plus we managed to coerce James Cracknell into the picture!

It was all great fun, if exhausting, and it didn't rain....

4 intrepid Geth's Girls are off to a location just North of Slough to run, cycle, pit their wits and skills against challenges, and complete an assault course.....have they any idea what they are doing?

Yes, planning to be last!

Anyway, we joined this mallarkey because it was being sponsored by the Kilted Paso Doble King, Kenny Logan, and we had heard that a certain Gethin Jones might just be in attendance. Disappointingly it seems not, but we live in hope!

Gethin Jones - Stormtrooper or Robin Hood?

Gethin is still on the epic Skyride......finishing this week in Leicester, he has battled through Time and Space, by way of Robin Hood's home of Nottingham and the Space Centre where he met a Stormtrooper.

Eschewing the use of rocket launchers, our doughty hero has braved wind, weather and lorry spray.......see his blog here

For our animation wizard, this presented a challenge as Geth started to hallucinate himself into episodes from a 1950s TV series.................check this out

Geth'll Fix It

Gethin will be back on the road again next week - he's been checking out the logistics whilst doing the (temporary) day job of presenting the One Show with Gloria (Gethinus interruptus) Hunniford. Make sure you keep up to date by following his blog.

Talking of the One Show, I have been a little concerned that Ms Hunniford is actually trying to edge Mr Jones off the sofa....but he is hanging on manfully.

Highlights for me so far have been Geth's Usain Bolt challenge, and his 'Geth'll fix it' moment reuniting two wartime chums. Least said about the 'Chucky' style bollards, and what type of trunks Justin Lee Collins should have been wearing the better I feel......'something to do with birds' (yes, Geth, we did hear that comment!)

Don't forget it is Gethin's penultimate 5Live show tomorrow!

We believe that Sell Me The Answer, Geth's Sky 1 game show, will be screened from November.

Elle McPherson, Gethin Jones and Olympian Vicky Pendleton pose for pictures for the Launch of the Skyride events in London.

Sky today announced a series of mass-participation summer cycling events, supported by British Cycling, to encourage Great Britain to get back on the bike. The announcement comes as new research reveals that over seven million bikes lay unused in sheds, gardens, garages and homes across the UK.......and mine is one of them!

OK, so hands up all those who are pondering how they get their bike to 'wherever' so they can watch Gethin cycling off into the distance? Now now, I am not thinking about the view from that perspective.....

Geth and Katherine made a rare public appearance at Ascot this week, and Katherine looked particularly lovely in a Philip Treacy hat in 'GG' signature hot pink!

I just want to know what Geth did with his hat - obviously not to his liking!

This afternoon, Gethin finally went for his eye lasering experience....apparently, he got his sister to have a go at it first! Well, what are sisters for?
