It's a Wonderful Wonderful World

I just can't stop singing happy songs......

Saturday
Because you’re gorgeous
Gethin was on e24 (BBC News channel) this morning – hooray! This is just as well because we missed him dreadfully on Strictly. Apart from Austin Healey and John Sargeant, everyone seemed to be extremely stressed, and it made me realise how much fun Geth brought to the whole thing (as well as working really hard and being GORGEOUS!)

Sunday
I read the news today, oh boy!

Geth was featured in the Telegraph Magazine in a nice article about Virgin 1’s Danger Hunters programme. There were various other bits in the papers, including a piece about Blue Peter in the Mirror.

Monday
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow

Christine Bleakley announces that ’The lovely Gethin Jones’ will be on the One Show the following day......whoooo hooooo

Tuesday
Go Wild, Go Wild, Go Wild in the country

All of the TV Mags go, well, wild, over Geth’s Virgin 1 show, some with big articles, but almost all featuring it as one to watch.
Gethin appears on the One Show. That couch is a revolting colour and it is NOT Geth’s colour - not that we care – certain of Geth’s Girls declaring they had not even noticed he was sitting on anything (Gethin Jones levitates??). Geth definitely wanted to talk ‘Strictly’ with Ms Bleakley, we saw some footage from the forthcoming show, and it was all very good…….

Wednesday
Diamonds on the soles of his shoes
Tom and Camilla feature on Blue Peter – Gethin sent his shoes – but can Tom and the new BP Presenter Joel fill those size 9 and a half shoes, probably not – and they both had to wear name badges to ensure they didn’t forget they are not Gethin……

Zebedee says it is time for bed for a wage slave……but…….
Text – Geth’s on BBC1 - NOW!!!
Phone call – Geth’s on BBC1 – NOW!!! (thanks, girls!)
There he was, large as life, on the Lottery midweek show……………well, hellooo!

Thursday
Run for home, run as fast as I can…running man…..
We find out two things:
1 Geth is doing the Great North Run (yeah, see you on TV, Geth!)
2 Lottery seems to be a regular thing – next on 8th October – Katherine Jenkins next week………appearing on TV together? We’ll wait and see……Note to self, get in supply of matchsticks to prop open eyelids with.

Friday
The boys are back in town

Righty-o – Gethin is in the Telegraph again as Strictly Insider – so this looks like a regular thing – funny observation about the mens’ hair - ‘ballroom haircuts and humiliation’……good going Geth! Not sure I would have bought this particular paper, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do…..watching lottery show, buying Telegraph – whatever next….
Report in OK online mag that Geth gave Christine a 'secret' Salsa lesson……..there is no stopping this man………….Saturday, on Jonathan Ross's Radio 2 show, from 10am-1pm.....Listen!

Stand by your sofas, the weekend is set fair for – well foul weather actually, sort of, for the waterspouts that Gethin will be chasing on Gethin Jones: Danger Hunters, Sunday, 9pm, Virgin1....... Watch!

Park Life

Safe in the knowledge there will always be a bit of my heart devoted to it.

Sunday

Oh my - last night was last night of the Proms in Swansea's Singleton Park, as per previous report! The GGs wend their way home.................some visiting some old haunts in Wales, some discovering them for the first time. Cymru am byth!

Confidence is a preference for the habitual voyeur of what is known as... (parklife!)

Monday

The lovely people at Virgin1 have uploaded some new clips to the Virgin 1 website, including Geth being beaten by a six year old girl - wearing pink!!!

The new trailer appears - hoorah.....................and this little nugget appears:

Sunday 28th September 2008 - Virgin 1 9:00pm Gethin Jones' Danger Hunters

Intrepid presenter Gethin Jones follows the world's biggest thrill-seekers on the trail of the most treacherous natural phenomena on the globe. The stunning series premiere sees him take to the seas in search of coast-battering hurricanes and waterspouts.

Oooh err, but at least we know for sure he made it through, relatively unscathed...

Its got nothing to do with your vorsprung durch technic, you know

Tuesday

Radio Times columnist David Butcher

"Will we ever grow tired of watching celebrities do things they are not very good at? After ballroom dancing, performing circus tricks etc., we've now had Soccer Aid......a charity game featuring showbiz stars and former football legends....was rich with moments that made you rub your eyes. I never thought I'd live to see Angus Deayton skinned by Luis Figo, or Alan Shearer. heading a goal courtesy of a lovely cross from the McFly guitarist Danny Jones. It was priceless - and about five times more exciting than your average Premiership game (more sporting too)."

I get up when I want, except on Wednesdays, when I get rudely wakened by the dustmen.

Wednesday

This article on BBC America gives a link to -sigh - Gethin Jones, directly to www. strictlygethinjones.co.uk ......whoopidoo! http://www.bbcamerica.com/content/23/anglophenia.jsp?bc_id=1228

And its not about you joggers who go round and round and round...

Thursday

I was just trawling round the internet, as you do, and found out that, with being away on Saturday and Sunday, ALL Geth's Girls, including those not in Swansea, had managed to miss the fact that Gethin was on BBC News' e24..........we hang our heads in shame!!!! However, we now have a couple of days to watch on iPlayer......

Also dropped into our laps was a rumour that Geth was to appear in Joseph - now, almost unanimously we are agreed that Gethin in a loincloth might be quite alluring *thud*...................however, we HAVE seen a clip of him singing for the Any Dream Will Do judges..........so.....most of us are hoping that it is as a charity activity, or that his singing has improved greatly!!!

It gives me a sense of enormous well-being

Friday

Will Geth be on e24 tomorrow?

The Telegraph has an article by Gethin as a Strictly Insider...................

Sunday 14 September 2008

Intermezzo.......this site disrupted by Gethin Jones!

Apologies for anyone waiting for an update on Friday..................but your correspondent was in Cardiff and Swansea this weekend.

I traversed the country (well the M4 anyway) and paid Cardiff a little visit (lucky old Cardiff!). The Wales Millennium Centre was a fantastic sight, both inside and out and well-worth the cost of a tour.

Anyway, I digress - the point of the trip Westward was for the GGs to see Mr Jones himself hosting the Proms in the Park in Swansea's Singleton Park.
Now I did warn last week that we would be dressed in black and pink..........well, we arrived through the gate - finally, after waiting for over an hour with some other lovely folks - to a greeting from Gethin on stage, in rehearsal gear.......and a comment about our headgear! OK, so the point of the new clothing articles was to draw attention to ourselves, but who knew that would be so effective so soon?

We watched some rehearsals, and settled in for a fantastic evening of musical delights, and to see Geth do a grand job of hosting, as we knew he would. A great rapport with Elin Manahan Thomas and the orchestra and chorus............. some dancing with the delightful Rebecca Evans and the debonair Alfie Boe - yes, that's right, dancing WITH Rebecca AND Alfie.........all in all great job done, Geth! Sorry, bit of an embarrassment being on the front row, not knowing the words of the Welsh national anthem!

Now, some things seem like a good idea at the time (especially after a glass *ahem* or two of champagne) - and one of mine/ours was to say yes to an interview with a lovely lady and some gentlemen from BBC Wales - good grief, what were we thinking? Please do not adjust your sets.....switch them OFF!

Anyway, we did get to speak to Geth at the end of the evening, always a delight! Diolch Geth, once again.....

Monday 8 September 2008

Gethin Jones goes to Wembley!

OK so the Rest of the World (ROW) team lost by 3 goals to England's 4, but what a thriller of a match it was - often hard to tell who were the professionals!

Gethin Jones, playing No. 2, was on the pitch for the whole match and looked fit in all senses of the word...... Played in defence in the first half - he was marking and tackling Alan Shearer!

"Alan Shearer losing out to Gethin Jones. Alan Shearer tackled by a Blue Peter presenter!"

Paddy Kielty called him 'an Adonis' and we got a good few seconds of our man with his top off......woo hoo!

"Everyone who is here had a dream of playing for their country in an international stadium"Gethin Jones pre-match

He took a great shot at goal in the second half when he was moved to mid-field

"Hit first time by Gethin Jones.
He really caught hold of that didnt he - some strike.
30 yds out really catching it cleanly.
Great technique but the ball just rising from its target!"

Swapping shirts with Alan Shearer at the end, Geth looked chuffed to bits - - the former England striker then went on to collect his medal wearing No.2 Jones - RESULT!

Maybe not as much of a dream as playing rugby for Wales at the Millennium Stadium, but it surely had to be up there.

Unfortunately (unless nobody told me) none of the GGs had been able to make it to the match (in 2 years time, Gethin, we will be there en masse!). However, there were some ladies there with t-shirts bearing various slogans, one of which included 'Welsh Wonder', and another about some alcoholic beverages.......no idea who they were, but WE will shortly be resplendent in black with pink GG logos.............................clearly observable at any future events!!!!

Wednesday 3 September 2008

Match of the day....week...whatever

(imagine music) di di-di dee di-di-di di dee……..

Saturday
Gethin did his final stint in charge of Eamonn Holmes’ show, and it was a fun programme, with an opportunity to have a look (and try to borrow) Cassie Patten's Olympic Bronze medal. Geth spoke to her Auntie Lesley, who apparently fancies him……..well what else is new!
Nick Knowles was on - wearing Welsh tartan trousers apparently……….hmmmmmm - best not go there!

Oh yes, and in the interests of quoted Chris Hoy accurately, Gethin - EX-Blue Peter presenter - used the word 'arse' 3 times!

THEN we had the National Lottery awards - to be honest (sorry, Ben - Shepherd that is) it was all a little bit boring, then it was Geth‘s turn………..oh my……did a little stumble, made a big joke of it. Loved Jenni Falconer’s comment ‘I thought you were looking so smooth until you did that’. I have to say I thought it just showed a total professional, who has a talent for comedic one-liners….but he must have been mortified!

The outfit of good black suit (Gethin Jones, you need another good suit!!) white shirt and NO TIE caused a controversy in GG land that hasn’t been seen since ‘coat wars’ at New Year!
Personal view - for this is my column - was that he looked great, as usual!

Sunday
Gethin must have been hoping the previous night’s slip had passed by unnoticed………nooooooooooooooooooo! Right from the off he got two hours of non-stop mickey-taking from guests and even a Washington correspondent. Hilarious!!! Even though he threatened to go home at one point, Gethin bore it all manfully.
Biddy Baxter was on (wonder if her new book has MY letter in it?) and was frankly somewhat tedious and expressed an opinion not shared by Geth’s Girls, that Blue Peter is hard to watch for adults - errrr - not when Jonesy was on it wasn’t!

Monday
……………..did I mention I hate Mondays?
Well, not so much this one. We found out that ‘Glamour’ Magazine featured the lovely Mr Jones - even more lovely because the GGs got yet another mention (hoorah!), even if the fact we know more about him than he does came under the category of ‘scary’…….and for the record, it was not me who wrote in asking for his socks.

Tuesday
Nothing in the trashy mags - but the Radio Times lists him as being part of the ‘Rest of the World’ team on SoccerAid 2008, Sunday 7th September 6-10pm.

Wednesday
Hoping for a glimpse of Geth on the Soccer Aid programme tonight at 10.35 - and there he was (see pic at top) looking very FIT! 'Gethin's Good' say Ant & Dec - oh yes we know!

Thursday

"The rest of the world team is a wounded beast and they want to get their revenge"
Gethin Jones

Friday
Jonesy gets quoted in this BBC article

Jones said: "You learn the lesson that when people ask if you are any good at football you say, 'not really' and they're pleasantly surprised.
"When you are playing with world class players, they actually make you look good because you can ping the ball anywhere near them and they'll make it look like a good pass."
