Have a nice trip...................

Sorry, Gethin

Check this out

Friday 29 August 2008

Coming Soon to a TV Screen near YOU!

(imagine Pearl & Dean music)

Saturday
Gethin’s Radio 5 Live show revealed that he had been to New Zealand looking for an avalanche or two - once again looking a wee bit jetlagged …..

Now the GGs are starting to worry about Gethin’s ‘Carbon Footprint’! The Olympics took up a fair bit of the show.

Geth was obviously on ‘other half’ duty this weekend as he was spotted at Kenwood where Miss Jenkins was singing.

Spotted on the Lottery Awards Show promo video - there he was ‘twirling’ Camilla at last year’s show.

Sunday
Radio 5 Live show was once again dominated by the Olympics - and the handover show - we heard the Diva herself practising and were glad to hear Jonesy was getting a bit of R&R by attending the event.

Monday
Bank Holiday Monday - and the sun was shining…..but there was no news of Gethin…..

Tuesday
Geth appears listed in this week’s Radio Times for the Lottery Awards programme on Saturday, without reference to Strictly or Blue Peter for clarification - it is official, Gethin Jones needs no further introduction!

Wednesday
Nope……remind me - it has all gone blank……oh yes, ITV’s Soccer Aid - some say he is taking part - the ITV website doesn’t put him on ‘the list’ - don’t they know he is a STAR??

Thursday
Well, it was a tricky old day - we knew the new batch on Strictly would be announced - which was making us feel sad :-( . Could it, would it be the same without Gorgeous Gethin (NO!!!!!) or Gavin - as one obviously non Gethin’s Girl SCD message boarder had it…….Camilla dancing with another man - this cannot be right, but this GG wishes the original GG all the best!

However, I also spotted a ‘teaser’ ad for Geth’s new Virgin 1 show on Dave (yes, I am addicted to old Top Gear shows)- ‘Coming Soon’! Yippee!

Nearly forgot - uploaded this video to YouTube

Friday
A little snippet from Soccer Aid:
Joining Rest of the World team, TV presenter Gethin Jones says: “I’m an alright player. I’ve got an engine which is my main strength, but can also give it short. I’d like to think I’m a Ray Wilkins kind of player, but I’m probably more like David Batty. I’m not as a fit as I should be, but I can do a job kicking the ball and giving it to people like Romario to weave their magic!”
“(Peter) Schmeichel was a legend in Manchester while I was at university there, so it’s going to be incredible. You have to pinch yourself, but I just hope I play more than two minutes."

According to the Radio Times and the ITV website Soccer Aid is on ITV on Sunday 7th September 6pm - 10pm (thanks for the above, Jan!)

Before then, we have the Lottery Awards on BBC1, Saturday 30th at 8pm……be there or be…well……somewhere else I suppose..........

This week's report...........

Saturday and Sunday - C minus
- A whole lot of nothing going on…………hope Geth’s having a nice break

Monday - A
We found out that Gethin will be presenting an award at the National lottery awards on 30th August

Tuesday - A plus
The words ‘Gethin Jones’ appear on the front cover of the Radio Times, and Gethin is there in the ‘final word’ section, nice picture (funny that, used to be on the SGJ website……), and a long article about his Radio 5 Live show. Inquiring minds wish to know why this did not appear sooner, and whether this is still just Geth’s holiday job………………….

Wednesday - A minus
Gethin’s FA video mate, Ben Shepherd, is hosting the Lottery awards. Give Geth a break!

Thursday - A plus
GGs discover http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com/ , a site we feel Jonesy would appreciate. Small gems are the newsletter, and ‘underpant toast‘…………………

Friday - Ungraded
Will post contents of Gethin’s radio show as and when they appear. Don’t forget, Radio 5 Live - 9-11 Saturday and 10-12 Sunday

Saturday 16 August 2008

This broadcast has been interrupted by the Olympics!

How very dare they.......

Saturday

Geth's R5 live programme was late starting. In the studio, they were looking ever so slightly BORED BORED BORED as Nicky Campbell ineptly handled links and apologised for messing up Geth's programme.
HOWEVER - the first British gold medal was won - and by a Welshwoman too - gwych!!

Hardeep Singh Koli did a hilarious programme from the Eisteddfod, quote: 'I feel so Welsh - without the hangups!'

Sunday

A much better programme, with Gethin handling the links to Beijing expertly - give the right man the job next time, Auntie Beeb!!!!!

Monday

*drums fingers* - nothing much happening. Hopefully Geth is getting chance for a bit of a break....

Tuesday & Wednesday

Nothing going on in the trashy mags (and we have a specially-appointed trashy-mag scanner)

Radio Times suggests there is no Gethin on radio for the weekend of 23/24 August either*....and we know he is not on this weekend.

* The R5 live website says yes to next Saturday and Sunday - 9 to 11 on Saturday 10 to 12 on Sunday

Thursday

GGs in Wales report sightings of Geth (sadly only on an Eisteddfod poster).

It appears he is cutting hair for charity in September. Anybody thinking of taking up this offer, please see Blue Peter 'makes' - *Gethin Jones - step away from the scissors*.

I have uploaded a new photo to Geth's Wikipedia page........

Friday

Speculation has been made about whether Geth will make an appearance at the 2012 Handover Party on The Mall on 24th August.....................a certain Welsh Diva is singing, so I guess it is a possibility.

Friday 8 August 2008

Ciao for now! (as they say in Llandaff - apparently!)

There's a bit of a Jones vibe - even more than usual..........

Saturday - A minute of your time
Well, the GGs seem to be taking up rather more minutes than strictly necessary on the Gethin Jones Radio show!!! Check me out, I was on the podcast - well my question(s) to Francesco Da Mosto were anyway. I, along with some other GGs, was in York, so didn't get to listen, but texts were sent and read out, and cheesy songs chosen.

Sunday - It's not unusual
Geth loves a challenge, as we know - and did a great job charming the Chinese ambassador (yes, she is female - of course!)whilst standing in for Gabby Logan. Annie commented that if Chinese lady Ambassadors wear knickers, she left without them (thus inspiring the Tom Jones song titles). Apparently there was also some flirting with a violinist.......

Geth flew off to Florida to find a storm (could just have stayed here!)

Monday - The Green Green Grass of Home
News of another Eisteddfod ad came our way (see post below)

Tuesday - What's new, Pussycat?
A somewhat less than edifying celeb mag called 'Reveal' has an exclusive - with nothing much new in it apart from a small pic of Geth at work being an ambassador (wiz zese photos, you are really spoiling us) for the National Lottery good causes.....This article is rehashed endlessly in the press all week.

Wednesday - (Why, why why?) Delilah
The blog got a hit from Alaska - perhaps the new Blue Peter presenters are checking out the last guy...................

Thursday - Funny, familiar, forgotten feelings
Gethin appears on a Blue Peter Olympic special - not for long, but since he is just wearing a pair of swimming trunks - it's good for me!

Friday - If only I knew
What the heck was going to be on Geth's shows over the weekend. Thankfully I will be listening - glued to the radio - well, not literally, but............well, you know what I mean - listen to him - ah go on!

Tuesday 5 August 2008

Gethin Jones in Football Association video........

The FA has launched a film called 'Can We Have A Referee?' featuring Fabio Capello, referee Howard Webb and several ex-pros and celebrities (including Geth of course)
The film is part of the Respect campaign which aims to retain more referees, as many quit every year through abuse and intimidation.

Weekly witterings

Saturday - ‘Have a word with yourself!’
Gethin was on the radio – and verily, it was good! There was a bit of one-upmanship with Peter Duncan, I’m sorry, no contest……..Geth wins……….Not a lot of people know this, but Gethin has achieved the following feats that appear in the Guinness Book of Records:
Peeling lemons
Tying shoelaces
Pulling crackers (saw that one! Oh blimey, just admitted to watching Blue Peter – again!)
Largest gathering of people with the same surname (there were a few Joneses, then!)
Liz thingy (what the heck is her name? Obviously not watching a lot at that point….) seemed to have done even more daredevil things than the boys – sorry – but why? Trying to kill yourself on national TV is evidently not something a sensible woman needs to do!
We hear that Geth is off to Arizona - will the website get a ping from the ‘Grand Canyon’, or ‘Copper’ State? Of course it will!
Auntie Jan texts in to see if Raef is chicken – the answer it seems, is yes!

Sunday – When the going gets tough……….
Some GGs were off of a tough shopping challenge, but we still managed some inter-county texting and established that the Sunday Mirror mag had an article on our boy – not much news, but nice pics!

Monday – ‘Tell me why - I don’t like Mondays’
Well I just don’t, OK!

Tuesday – I rode through the desert on a horse with no name……………
The website – and this blog - got ‘hits’ from Arizona – wave to Geth, everyone!
A very nice ad for the National Eisteddfod of Wales appears on BBC Wales……frantic search for a vid clip begins…..and is successful (diolch!)

Quote: 'Which one's the dish' (Sparkling Liz)

Wednesday – midweek madness
I do a link to said vid clip – blogs hits go mad, from literally the world over……….now that could be for Gethin, Ioan, or, more probably, Matthew ……who cares?
Guardian blog implies that these gentlemen are 3 of Wales’ hottest properties – and all went to the same school!
A GG drove past said school, but resisted the temptation to pop in for a visit (we are not stalkers, really!)

Thursday – thank goodness tomorrow is Friday

Friday – Gethin Jones - the ‘stand in’ man
BREAKING NEWS - Geth will be opening the Eisteddfod (along with others) together with some choirs, including one from his old school….awww!

We hear that there will be two doses of Gethin Jones on Radio – Saturday from 9-12, and another on Saturday from 10-12 – will this cure a severe case of Gethinitis – I think not – the webcam doesn’t substitute for proper visual contact!

What's on the show tomorrow?

Saturday 2 August:
Gethin talks to the man with the silkiest voice on television, Venetian architect Francesco Da Mosto about his travels around Italy for the BBC.

A comedian who describes himself as the "fat Michael Owen" and star of new show Tonightly is in the studio. It's Jason Manford.

Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes star Marshall Lancaster will tell us if sharing a stage with a 33 tonne locomotive is scarier than sharing the screen with DCI Hunt...

An extreme pilot and an extreme sailor, Mike Goulian who will be spending the weekend flying at ridiculous speeds over the River Thames for the Red Bull Air Race, and Ed Baird, Americas Cup winner who is spending the weekend flying boats in Cowes.

We'll see if Rob Burrow has recovered from his run in on the rugby pitch last weekend, and hear his views on the new X-files film.

The hero of last weekends Twenty 20 Final between Middlesex and Kent, The Blacksmith, Tyron Henderson will be on the line.

Plus, new band Grammatics bring their Cello in to the studio, Raef brings his hair, and we want you to bring your suggestions of the cheesiest summer songs, ever.
